China inspects regions, including Rostov Region, for grain export

MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- A Chinese delegation is inspecting companies from Russia’s major grain-producing regions, including the Rostov Region, to add to the provinces allowed to export grain, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight said in a statement on Monday.

“As we work to expand the list of regions with the right to sell agricultural products to China and to boost exports of Russian grain and products of grain processing to the Chinese market, the service has organized a visit of representatives of the General Administration of Customs of China to Russia from October 20 through October 31,” the statement read.

Currently, China allows imports of grain only from seven regions of Russia: the Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Amur, Kurgan, Altai, and Krasnoyarsk regions.

The delegation has finished inspection of the companies in the Rostov and Irkutsk regions and in the republic of Bashkortostan. It is to inspect the companies in the Saratov, Penza, and Kaliningrad regions next. “If the Chinese side makes a positive decision to include these regions in the exports list to China, the export potential of Russian grain will grow significantly,” the service said.
